Madrean Tower
Krause Created A Multi-Level Nature-Inspired Oasis in Arizona
Commanding attention
Picture yourself on the lively streets of Phoenix, surrounded by the breathtaking desert landscape, and gazing at the Madrean Tower as it effortlessly commands attention with its impressive height and futuristic concept.
This remarkable mixed-use project, designed by Krause, is the result of an architectural competition that aimed to redefine the future of nature-inspired urban architecture in Arizona.
Krause teamed up with our gifted artists at ZOA, along with freelance Hungarian artist Bánáti Csaba, to capture the essence of this wild and extraordinary concept within only two weeks.
A symbol of sustainability
The use of neon colors, wall-climbing cars, futuristic accessories, and unusual visual elements amplifies the wow effect and emphasizes the tower’s visionary nature.
But the project is not just about aesthetics; it addresses a pressing challenge. 1 in 10 of all Americans are getting their water from the drying Colorado River. The region’s food security and economy are at risk. With deserts covering a significant portion of the Earth’s surface, and water scarcity becoming an increasingly critical issue, the Madrean Tower proposes a solution through multi-level vertical agriculture. As elevation changes, so do the ecosystems, resulting in extraordinary biodiversity within the building.
By integrating farming methods that require 95% less water, the Madrean Tower stands as an icon of innovation and sustainable design, reimagining the skyline of Phoenix and addressing the challenges of our changing world. By integrating vertical agriculture, leveraging existing infrastructure, and creating a new vertical space, the tower becomes a symbol of hope and a catalyst for change, not only in Arizona but also across the globe.
Rethinking Future Awards
Additionally, we are thrilled to announce that Madrean Tower was recognized as a runner-up in the prestigious Rethinking The Future Awards 2023, receiving two international awards in the Mixed-Use and Commercial Concept categories.
We would like to extend our sincerest congratulations to Michael Krause and Anthony Betti for their exceptional work and visionary design.
We’re honored to have been a part of your journey and we can’t wait to keep the ball rolling and achieve more milestones together.
